FAQ About the Cost of Therapy

Do you take insurance or Employee Assistance Plans (EAP)?

For Individual Therapy, I am in network with the following Virginia health plans:

  • Aetna

  • Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Virginia

  • CareFirst/Blue Choice

For all other insurance plans, I am an out of network provider. This means that you pay up front for services. I provide you with a “Superbill” which you submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

I encourage you to call the phone number on the back of your insurance card and ask about your behavioral health benefits.

For Couples Therapy
Most insurance plans do not cover relationship therapy. Coverage depends on your individual insurance plan and medical necessity.

How much do you charge?

For those insured with the plans I accept, you pay your co-pay and meet your deductible, if you have one. Your insurance company pays the rest.

  • $175/55 minute session Individual Therapy

  • $225/55 minute session Couples Therapy

  • $395/90 minute session Couples Therapy

A reduced rate for a limited number of clients on a case-by-case basis is offered. Please inquire if therapy cost presents a financial hardship for you.

What forms of payment do you take?

Debit and credit cards, via our secure patient portal, are charged after your session. All credit cards are accepted. You can also use a health savings card from your employer.

What if I need to cancel?

My cancellation policy is 24 hours prior to your appointment. If it is less than 24-hours, or you do not show up for your appointment without cancelling, the full fee is charged. In person appointments can be changed to virtual if needed.

Can I get a “Good Faith Estimate”?

Yes, per the No Surprises Act you are entitled to a good faith estimate for services.
